Women Empowerment Activitie

CED (Tamil Nadu) believes that Economic Development of Women will automatically facilitate their Social and Political Development.  Such an economic development of women can happen either through gainful employment or profitable self employment.  Focusing the efforts on the above lines, CED has undertaken a number of skill training and Entrepreneurship Development activities for the benefits of women.

1.
CED designed the course content and prepared the course material for the Women EDP when it was launched for the first time in the State.  This course material was then reprinted by the Directorate of Industries and Commerce every year for the use of Women EDP Trainees.  Thus, CED was involved in the implementation of Women EDP right from the inception of the scheme.

2.
CED conducted a number of workshops/ seminars/ conferences at the regional and national level on Women Empowerment in association with other developmental agencies with the support of Government agencies.

3.
CED partnered with Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME), Bangalore, to implement the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) Project of Empowering Women through Enterprises.  The Canadian Consortium of Business Schools (CCBS) and Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) were also part of the projects.  Women SHG leaders drawn from three southern states viz. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala were trained through the scheme.
