Current projects - 2018 – 2019, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (Tamil Nadu) has implemented a variety of Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Initiatives for more than 25 years. Our successful initiatives are listed in the page “Achievements”.

Now, we are proud to present the current projects for the year 2018 - 2019.

1. Skill Development Initiatives sponsored under the NSDC – PMKVY 2.0 of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India:
 

Skills and knowledge development are the driving forces behind the financial growth and community development of any country.  Skill building is a powerful tool to empower individuals and improve their social acceptance.  It must be complemented by economic growth and employment opportunities to meet the rising aspirations of youth.  Pradhan Mantri Kaushal VikasYojana (PMKVY) is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) through National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

The Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, Government of India has proposed to train 100 lakh youth in different employable and marketable skills during the period 2016-20 and allocated Rs.12,000 crores to implement the scheme. The National Skill Development Corporation is the Nodal Agency to implement the scheme. 32 sectors specific skill councils have been formed to design and develop skill development courses within their sectors. The Sector Skill Councils identified Technical Agencies as Training Providers to implement the scheme under the NSDC-PMKVY 2.0.  The Training Providers are identifying Training Centres for the delivery of training programmes.  CED (Tamil Nadu) served as Training Centre of M/s. Arrina Education Services Private Limited (TalentEdge), Mumbai and achieved the following milestones:

  • During the year  2015-16, NSDC implemented the PMKVY scheme and CED (Tamil Nadu) partnered with Talent Edge to implement Skill Training Programme under Electronics, Telecom and Retail Sectors in 9 centres in Tamil Nadu.  Around 4000 youth were trained during that year in the above said skill courses.
  • During the current year, 2016-18, the new guidelines for the Skill Development Scheme of the Government of India were introduced.  The scheme was known as NSDC-PMKVY 2.0.  CED (Tamil Nadu) has trained around 4000 persons in different skill development courses in 10 centres both in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. 
  • New Initiative during 2018 - 19:  Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (Tamil Nadu) is approved Training Provider by the National Skill Development Corporation and CED (Tamil Nadu) was awarded targets under the special Scheme of Tamil Nadu State Skill Development Corporation.     During the current year, CED (Tamil Nadu) was awarded a target of 120 candidates to be trained in two trades under the Electronic Sector Skill Council of India (ESSCI). 

    a) Solar Panel Installation Technician
    b) Field Technician – Computing and Peripherals
  • Further, CED (Tamil Nadu), Madurai has been accorded 5 Star Status

2. Ministry of Science and Technology Programmes:
 
        A) Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC):

    CED has conducted 20 Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps during the current year 2018-19 in the Engineering, Science and Polytechnic Colleges of Tamil Nadu to promote Entrepreneurship/ self employment culture among the educated youth. The final year students of the Engineering, Science and Polytechnic colleges were benefitted.  The camp was conducted in the respective colleges for 3 days which included one-day industry visit for a group of around 75 students.

    B) Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) :

    CED conducted three General Entrepreneurship Development programmes which are sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology Government of India during the current year 2018 – 2019 at Virudhunagar, Theni and Pudukottai Districts.  The EDP was conducted for a period of four weeks and the potential entrepreneurs are expected to establish their own entrepreneurship ventures.

    C) Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme (WEDP):

    CED conducted Three Entrepreneurship Development Programme exclusively for the prospective women entrepreneurs in Ramnad, Kanyakumari and Sivagangai during the current year 2018 – 2019 in association with the locally reputed institutions.  CED conducted the above three EDP exclusively for the prospective women entrepreneurs in Ramnad, Kanyakumari and Sivagangai.

    D) Technology based Entrepreneurship Development Programme (TEDP):

    The Technology based Entrepreneurship Development Programmes sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India under the different sectors / trades / technologies are conducted for a period of 6 to 8 weeks.  During the current year, the TEDP was conducted in the following two sectors in three places of Tamil Nadu:

    1. TEDP in Computer Hardware Maintenance in Madurai and Ramnad

    2. TEDP in Garment Manufacturing in Tiruppur

        The trainees of the technology based EDPs were provided hands on training by CED (Tamil Nadu) both at         Madurai Campus and in the other two places.

           E) Faculty Development Programme (FDP):

          Government of India is promoting Entrepreneurship Development Initiatives in the colleges by establishing         Entrepreneurship Development Cells (EDC) through grant-in-aid support from AICTE, Department of         Science and Technology, etc.

        However, such initiatives will require competent trainers to counsel and guide the students on         Entrepreneurship / Self employment.  CED is conducting a two-week Faculty Development Programme         (FDP) in Entrepreneurship taking around 25 – 30 faculty members in each batch.  For the current year         2018-19, Three FDPs were conducted in Madurai Campus..
